I've been building things forever and figured I'd try my hand at creating something special. I've spent most my career in IT infrastructure and much of my life as a homesteader. From a technology perspective, blockchain technology is on the cusp of creating some really cool shit. It took a decade of nonsense but we're getting there. Come along for the ride and lets see how far we can take this. Or feel free to heckle from the sidelines. I've tried dozens of games in the Web3/Blockchain space over the years and they all seem to fall flat. Disjointed mechanics, horrible tokenomics, endless promises with no delivery, no real integrations apart from avatars, rugs, dev meltdowns, endless token dumps and 99% of the projects out there shouldn't be on the blockchain to begin with. That "mist" is never going to clear. I'm hoping to build something different. And always interested to hear from other builders. I could certainly use some help in the creative/art space and on the Unity side but I'll continue to move through it and learn as I go. Ping me on Discord if you're interested in building.
SUI Warlords is an online game world trying to pay homage to traditional RPG & Strategy games. Built on SUI, leveraging as many of the amazing native capabilities as possible. Not overly flashiy, solid mechanics, tight Web3 integrations, and a fun game loop. It should be simple to grasp and hard to master with team PVP mechanics to keep things interesting. My vision is to build a web based "PVE" mode wherein you are minting, leveling, crafting, enhancing, and managing a team of Warlords. We'll also have some community aspects with land and guilds. Offering additional methods to augment your Warlords abilities outside leveling/classes/equipment/enhancements/etc. Warlords are used for adventure, crafting, emissions, sacrifice, and you're job as their Overlord is to bring them up to the best of your abilities. And eventually build a balanced group to destroy your friends and enemies with a 5v5 round based PVP mode. I'm intending to release the game with the core PVE component fully functional, but there's always opportunities to expand and add things. I'm hoping this project becomes my Dwarf Fortress, forever adding, tuning, and tinkering.
I've been playing RPGs/MMOs/Strategy games for decades. For this game design, I'll draw much inspiration from timeless titles like Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, Suikoden, Asheron's Call, Diablo, WoW and many others. I like to take little inspiration from different titles and create something that is my own. Solid party mechanics with multiple viable metas, deep crafting system, and ARPG style rolls where you're always fishing for one more upgrade or one more enhancement to make something truly awesome.
I've watched the L1 space evolve for years, and I think SUI MOVE is a brilliant step in the right direction. After seeing billions lost in smart contract hacks and exploits, I think it's time for something different and hopefully something a helluva lot better. I know I've personally been burned via contract exploits and looking forward to see how things progress in the coming years. SUI Move makes it so much easier on devs to build secure foundations. And users finally can "own" their assets with SUI's intrinsic object nature. Very much looking forward to utilizing all this cool technology to see what we can build. Enough of my idle banter, lets get into the game and some of it's mechanics.
